Nous offrons nos services en français. Vous n’avez pas à parler de vos finances dans votre deuxième langue.
Memramcook is the most francophone community we serve. More than eight in ten residents have French as a mother tongue, and roughly the same proportion speak both official languages. If you run a business here, you shouldn’t have to translate your own books.
Accounting Moncton handles bookkeeping, payroll, HST and business registration for small businesses across Greater Moncton. We’re a certified QuickBooks ProAdvisor practice, 24 minutes away on Route 106, and the first consultation is free. We also work in Spanish and Ukrainian.

What running a business in Memramcook actually looks like
Memramcook is a village of about 5,000 people spread across 186 square kilometres, which makes it the largest village in New Brunswick by population and one of the most spread out. There’s no downtown commercial strip. There’s no industrial park. What there is, is a lot of people running real businesses from home, from a barn, from a truck, or from an office in Moncton or Dieppe that they drive to every morning.
That pattern creates three recurring situations.
The business that started alongside a job. A great many Memramcook residents commute to Moncton or Dieppe for work and run something of their own on the side. Contracting, trades, consulting, crafts, equipment repair. Once that side income is being pursued with a reasonable expectation of profit, the CRA treats it as business income whether or not you’ve registered anything. That’s not a bad thing, because it opens up legitimate deductions. It only becomes a problem when it’s discovered three years later without records.
Nothing withheld at source. Employment income has tax taken off every pay. Business income doesn’t. If you have both, the business side can produce a bill in April that nobody budgeted for, plus CPP contributions on your self-employment earnings with no employer paying half. Past a certain point the CRA also starts expecting quarterly instalments. All of that is predictable if someone works it out in advance. None of it is pleasant as a surprise.
Home and vehicle costs that are genuinely deductible. Working from home in a village this size usually means real driving and real use of your own property. The portion of heat, power, insurance, property tax and mortgage interest or rent that relates to your workspace is claimable, as is the business share of your vehicle. Both need records kept as you go rather than reconstructed afterwards.

Starting a business in Memramcook
Registration is provincial. Both sole proprietorship name registrations and New Brunswick incorporation run through the Corporate Registry at Service New Brunswick, not the Village of Memramcook, and not federal unless you deliberately incorporate federally. You can register a French business name, and we can handle the process in French.
Sole proprietorship is faster and cheaper, and the income lands on your personal return. Incorporation costs more up front and adds a corporate return each year, but New Brunswick’s small business rate is 2.5% on active business income up to $500,000 against a general rate of 14%, and it separates your personal assets from the business.
We’ll talk you through which fits, run the NUANS search, and handle the filing.
Worth knowing: the 2023 local governance reform redrew the map across southeastern New Brunswick, merging and renaming municipalities all around here. Memramcook was left as it was. If you’ve heard that everything changed, it didn’t change for you, and your municipal arrangements are the same as they were.
How we work
Almost all of our Memramcook clients work with us remotely, which matters more here than in a town where the bookkeeper is down the street. QuickBooks Online means we’re in the same live file you are. You photograph receipts on your phone, and we handle the categorising, reconciling and filing. Nobody drives anywhere unless they want to.
When you do want to sit down together, we’re at 83 Barrieau Road in Moncton, about 24 minutes away on Route 106. First consultation is free with nothing attached to it.
Common questions from Memramcook business owners
Est-ce que je peux faire affaire avec vous en français?
Oui, entièrement. Vos questions, vos rapports, vos appels et vos documents peuvent se faire en français. Nous travaillons aussi en anglais, en espagnol et en ukrainien.
I work full-time in Moncton and run something on the side. Do I need a bookkeeper?
Probably not a full monthly service, but you almost certainly need the setup done properly once. Getting your record-keeping, home office allocation, vehicle log and HST position right at the start takes an hour or two and pays for itself many times over. After that a lot of our clients handle day-to-day entry themselves and bring us in quarterly.
When do I have to register for HST?
When your taxable revenue passes $30,000 over four consecutive calendar quarters. Below that you’re a small supplier and registering is optional, though it can be worth doing voluntarily if you’re buying significant equipment or supplies, since you can claim the HST back.
Does it matter that you’re not in Memramcook?
No. Bookkeeping isn’t regulated by municipality, and with cloud accounting your bookkeeper’s address is close to irrelevant. What matters is that they know New Brunswick rules, that they’re reachable, and that you can talk to them in the language you actually think in.
